If you’re not a shore local, usually when you think of the beach, you think summer time… right? Yeah well, the most enjoyable time for locals of the Jersey Shore is actually the fall. We call it our “local summer.”

The crowds are gone, those scorching hot days are over, you no longer have to wait over an hour to eat at your favorite restaurant, you can enjoy your local ice cream shop without a line out the door and your town starts to feel more like home again. Not to mention, you can do all of the typical fall activities with the added perks of being able to still enjoy a beach view.

County parks have a lot to offer to Monmouth County residents and they’re so much better once the summer crowd is gone. In Howell and Freehold, you can rent a rowboat or kayak at the Manasquan Reservoir. Since the weather cools down a little, it’s the perfect temperature to go camping too. Freehold’s Turkey Swamp Park had a beautiful campground and also kayaks, canoes and paddleboats for rent on weekends after Labor Day.

Fall festivals are the best way to spend the days. Some upcoming festivals in the area include: Bark in the Park in Keansburg, Harvest Home Festival in Holmdel, Keansburg’s Half Way to St. Paddy’s Day Irish Festival, October Fest in Highlands, Fall Flea Market in Allaire, Ocean Grove’s Fall Harvest Festival, Car Show in Atlantic Highlands, Belmar’s October Fest, Keyport Screamin’ Country Jamboree, Pumpkin Fest at Delicious Orchards and Monmouth Park Fall Festival… just to name a few. So, if you think living by the shore isn’t worth it in New Jersey, think again. It really is the place to be.

Our apartments are located in Keansburg, NJ which is in the northern section of Monmouth County. Keansburg is home to some of the cleanest FREE beaches in New Jersey. We’re located conveniently across from the beach with gorgeous waterfront and Manhattan views. We’re also located by Route 35, the Garden State Parkway and I-95. It is also near the NJ Transit® Hazlet Station with direct access to NYC. The Sea Streak Ferry Terminal at Highlands is only 20 minutes away and offers 40-minute service to Wall Street and 60-minute service to East 35th Street. NY Waterways Terminal (Belford/Harbor Way) is only 12 minutes away with 45-65-minute service to Midtown/W. 39th Street and 40-55-minute service to Pier 11/Wall Street.

There’s nothing like waking up to a beautiful beach view or walking outside and being able to put your feet in the sand and staring at the water. But actually… there’s real science behind it.

“Staring at the ocean actually changes our brain waves’ frequency and puts us into a mild meditative state.” – Richard Shuster, PsyD, clinical psychologist. In this article by NBC News, Shuster also mentions that the color blue is usually associated with a calm or peaceful feeling. It has also been found that the color is also linked to helping with creativity.

The article also references different studies that found people who live by the coast tend to be in better shape physically & mentally and that they feel calmer than those who don’t. So, when we say that that best place to live is on the beach… we mean it.

Do you need any more convincing that you need to live by the water? I don’t think so. Oh and did I mention the beach is FREE?

If you’re interested in an apartment right by the water for prices you can’t find anywhere else in New Jersey, Cove on the Bay in Keansburg is perfect for you. Our beachfront apartments in Keansburg, NJ have beautiful views of the bay and is located directly across the street from the Keansburg Beach and next to the Keansburg Amusement Park.
